The official trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has locked in a release date of February 12, 2027. On top of the previously announced PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms, this latest reveal confirms that the game will also be coming to the Switch 2.
To be honest, my memory of the early Tomb Raider games has faded a bit over the years. The entries that stand out most vividly in my mind now are 2008’s Tomb Raider: Underworld and the subsequent “Survivor” trilogy.
Even so, as someone who has played through most of the franchise, I still vividly remember the sheer thrill and sense of accomplishment that came from tackling those notoriously challenging puzzles back in the day.
This upcoming remake seems perfectly poised to let veteran players relive those classic moments. With Unreal Engine 5 powering the project, the visual immersion is bound to take a massive leap forward.
Beyond the modernized visuals and controls, I suspect the level design will go far beyond a simple visual overhaul, likely featuring expanded environments. At the same time, the developers might tone down the difficulty slightly to better fit the pacing of modern gaming.
From the brief gameplay snippets featured in the trailer—ranging from dense jungles to the interiors of pyramid-like tombs—the traps and puzzle mechanics look incredibly promising. There is plenty of reason to be genuinely excited about this reimagined classic.
Pre-ordering any edition of the game grants access to the “Survivor” Outfit. Additionally, both the Deluxe Edition and the Collector’s Edition will include 48-hour early access.
