Combining unique physics-based gameplay, a striking hand-drawn art style, and chaotic cooperative mechanics, this title promises an adventure that is as frustrating as it is addictive. A free demo is currently available on Steam, allowing players to dive into the core mechanics and discover what it truly means to “not chicken out.”

Gameplay: Balance the Egg, Brave the Journey

In Don’t Chicken Out, players control two adorable chickens tasked with a deceptively simple mission: balancing a fragile egg. However, the execution is anything but easy. One wrong move or a slight loss of coordination will send the egg shattering, forcing you to start over.

In-game scene from Act I: The Farm, two cartoon chickens stand on a small wooden plank carrying a single egg, suspended between colorful platforms. A timer shows 0:12 remaining. Background features playful farm themed obstacles and props (hay bales, carrots, signs).

The game features both Single-Player and Multiplayer Co-op (supporting local couch co-op and online play). Whether you’re testing your own limits or “suffering” alongside a friend, the experience is a perfect blend of high-tension precision and laugh-out-loud moments.

Gameplay from Act I: The Farm — two chickens balance an egg on a nest-like plank, flanked by moving wooden platforms with fork-shaped ends. Below, purple segmented platforms with sleepy faces slide horizontally. A screaming pink creature and a cheese-shaped cat peek from the sides. Timer shows 1:47.

A Vast and Vibrant World to Explore

The game features a massive, handcrafted world spanning seven distinct biomes. Your journey will take you from peaceful farms and bustling cities to mysterious jungles and the towering peaks of the Himalayas. The adventure doesn’t stop there, you’ll navigate grand cathedrals, descend into the fires of Hell, and even traverse the Milky Way. Each region introduces unique, punishing obstacles designed to test your reflexes, patience, and synergy with your partner.

Vertical level segment in Act I: The Farm — chickens stand on a small egg-carrying platform between two tall, decorated pillars (one with a cow face, one with a roasted chicken). Green hedge columns frame the path. A floating cloud and farm-themed debris (carrots, pears) drift above.

Speedrunning and Global Leaderboards

For hardcore players who live for the perfect run, Don’t Chicken Out includes an integrated speedrun timer and global leaderboards. Whether you prefer to soak in the atmosphere at your own pace or shave off milliseconds to claim the top spot, the game caters to both casual explorers and competitive perfectionists.

Settings screen showing options for Fullscreen (enabled), Resolution (1920×1080), Master Volume, Music Volume, and language selection (Simplified Chinese, English, French, Japanese). The interface is framed by whimsical illustrated vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, etc.) shaped like game controllers.

Art Style and Language Support

The game boasts a vibrant hand-drawn cartoon aesthetic, creating a world that feels both surreal and whimsical. To ensure a seamless experience for players worldwide, Don’t Chicken Out supports seven languages: Simplified Chinese, English, French, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian.

Final Thoughts

Don’t Chicken Out is more than just a test of skill, it’s a hilarious journey about cooperation and perseverance. Whether playing solo or with a friend, prepare for a rollercoaster of laughter and “desk-flipping” frustration.

If you’re a fan of high-difficulty challenges, physics-based interactions, and colorful hand-drawn art, add it to your Steam Wishlist today and get ready for the full release in 2026!
