Recently, RainStyle Games unveiled the trailer for their latest title, Midnight Watcher: Village. This game blends survival horror with survival simulation elements, delivering a tense and thrilling psychological horror experience to players.

In Midnight Watcher: Village, you step into the shoes of a shift guard sent to a derelict village deep within the Siberian Taiga. On the surface, your objective is simple: maintain order. However, the longer you stay, the more you realize the village isn’t truly abandoned. Instead, you’ll discover that something supernatural is lurking in the shadows.

Furthermore, the trailer features a radiation detector and concludes with a shocking flash resembling a nuclear explosion. Consequently, this leaves us wondering: What exactly happened in this village?

Day-Night Cycle and Core Gameplay

The game utilizes a unique day-night cycle that splits the gameplay into two distinct phases.

Daytime: Exploration and Preparation During the deceptively calm daylight hours, players must:

  • Explore the village and its surrounding environment.
  • Manage limited resources for survival, such as gathering firewood and boiling water.
  • Perform routine patrols and basic tasks.
  • Seek out treasures—this is the most tempting yet dangerous choice, as taking these items is strictly forbidden.

Nighttime: Survival and Confrontation When night falls, the true horror begins:

  • Your daytime actions directly influence the level of danger at night.
  • The “owners” of the treasures will return to reclaim their belongings.
  • You must protect yourself with limited means: light can dispel the darkness, salt can block uninvited guests, and weapons may be useful, though ammo is extremely scarce.
  • Barricading doors and windows to reinforce your shelter becomes vital for survival.
  • Whether you hide or fight back, every decision is a matter of life and death.

Choices and Consequences

The core appeal of Midnight Watcher: Village lies in the direct feedback resulting from player behavior. You can choose to follow the rules and focus on survival to keep your nights relatively peaceful, or you can risk taking treasures for short-term gain at the cost of attracting much more dangerous “visitors.” Every choice alters the threat level of the night, ensuring every playthrough is unpredictable.

Horror Atmosphere and Content Features

The game builds an intense atmosphere featuring jump scares, dark environments, and hostile spiritual entities. Notably, despite being a horror game, the developers have stated that there is no gore, violence, or explicit content. When a player is caught by an enemy, the screen simply fades to black, merely implying the character’s demise without displaying graphic imagery. This makes the game accessible to a broader range of horror enthusiasts.

In the depths of this forgotten Taiga, the rules are written by the darkness, and survival is determined by your choices. As for that mysterious nuclear-like flash—it may be neither the beginning nor the end.

Note: An official release date has not yet been announced.
