A Vision Forged in Architecture and Wuxia
In an exclusive interview with NVIDIA, Liang Qiwei—Founder and CEO of S-GAME and creative lead behind Phantom Blade Zero—discussed the game’s use of RTX technology to realize its cinematic wuxia vision.
A Tsinghua University graduate with a master’s in architecture from Yale, Liang brings a unique spatial storytelling approach to game design—shaping worlds where environment, narrative, and combat flow as one.
Beyond Souls-Like, Beyond Hack-and-Slash
Liang is clear: Phantom Blade Zero isn’t just another Souls-inspired title or a repetitive action brawler. Instead, it’s a thoughtful fusion of genres, blending methodical combat, cinematic pacing, and player-driven exploration to appeal to a wide range of gamers.
Kung Fu Punk Meets Mythic China
Set in a world defined by “Kung Fu Punk”—a bold aesthetic merging traditional wuxia with gritty, stylized futurism—the game weaves Chinese folklore and martial legend into its core. Players take on the role of a wounded protagonist with only 66 days to live. Driven by personal vengeance and the search for redemption, he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to unravel reality itself. What begins as a journey of self-salvation evolves into a race to save the world.

RTX and DLSS 4: Enabling the Impossible
Liang praised NVIDIA RTX and the latest DLSS 4 as transformative tools for the team. “These technologies let us realize scenes we once thought too demanding,” he noted. Complex lighting, particle-heavy weapon effects, and dense environmental detail—all can now run smoothly without compromise.
Most importantly, thanks to DLSS 4 and additional engine-level optimizations, Phantom Blade Zero delivers the best possible visual quality while maintaining stable, smooth frame rates—directly addressing one of the top concerns for performance-conscious players.
Global Launch Confirmed
Mark your calendars: Phantom Blade Zero launches worldwide on September 9, 2026, day-and-date on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
