ROG Unveils First RGB Stripe OLED Monitors and 240Hz XR Glasses at CES 2026

At CES 2026, ROG debuts its first RGB Stripe OLED monitors—featuring reduced color fringing and ultra-fast 240Hz refresh rates—alongside groundbreaking 240Hz XR glasses for immersive gaming.

At CES 2026, ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) launched two new OLED gaming monitors — the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWN and ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN. These are the industry’s first QD-OLED and Tandem OLED displays to fully adopt an RGB Stripe subpixel layout, directly addressing long-standing concerns about text clarity while preserving OLED’s signature color vibrancy and ultra-fast response.

Why RGB Stripe Matters

  • Most OLED panels use Pentile or diamond-style subpixel arrangements, which share subpixels between pixels—reducing effective resolution and causing text to appear slightly soft.
  • RGB Stripe uses dedicated red, green, and blue subpixels for every pixel, delivering sharper text and more precise image detail.
  • This upgrade is especially valuable for productivity, coding, and UI-heavy games like MOBAs or tactical shooters.

ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWN: 27-inch 4K Flexible Gaming Display

  • Panel: QD-OLED
  • Resolution / Refresh Rate: user-selectable dual-mode switching
    • 4K (3840×2160) @ 240Hz
    • FHD (1920×1080) @ 480Hz
  • Competitive Mode: Instantly switch to a cropped 24.5-inch-equivalent field of view (maintaining 16:9 aspect ratio) for tighter focus in fast-paced games
  • Color: Covers up to 99% DCI-P3, maintaining rich, stable colors even at high brightness
  • HDR: Dolby Vision support for enhanced dynamic range and realism
  • Design: Silver chassis (black optional) with a transparent rear panel revealing internal components
  • Availability: First half of 2026

ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN: 34-inch Ultra-Wide Curved Flagship

  • Panel: Tandem OLED (dual-stack emissive layers)
  • Screen: 34-inch, 1800R curvature, 360Hz refresh rate
  • Black Level: delivers 40% deeper perceived black levels, delivering deep, true blacks even in bright rooms
  • Durability: Reinforced surface film offers 2.5× better scratch resistance than standard QD-OLED
  • Certification: VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certified
  • Availability: Q1 2026

Comprehensive Connectivity

Both models feature a future-ready I/O suite:

  • DisplayPort 2.1a (80 Gbps bandwidth)
  • Dual HDMI 2.1 ports (48 Gbps each)
  • USB Type-C port: Supports video input + 90W power delivery for single-cable laptop connectivity

OLED has always excelled in color and response time—but I’ve been a little hesitant because of text sharpness. If ROG really pulls it off with RGB Stripe, we’ll finally have both high refresh rates and crisp clarity.

In addition to its new OLED monitors, ASUS ROG also unveiled the ROG Xreal R1 gaming XR glasses at CES 2026—in partnership with Xreal. As the world’s first consumer near-eye display supporting a 240Hz refresh rate, it’s built for players who demand ultra-low latency and immersive visuals.

The ROG Xreal R1 features dual Micro-OLED panels and weighs just 72 grams, projecting a virtual screen equivalent to a 130-inch display viewed from three meters away—delivering high-speed smoothness without compromising comfort.

Key Specifications

  • Refresh Rate: Up to 240Hz (supports 60/90/120/240Hz)
  • Resolution: 1920 × 1080 per eye
  • Port: USB Type-C (requires DisplayPort Alt Mode support)

Compatible Devices

  • Windows PCs (gaming laptops and desktops)
  • Windows handhelds (e.g., ROG Ally, Steam Deck)
  • MacBook (M1 chip or newer)
  • USB-C smartphones with video output support (e.g., iPhone 15 series, Samsung Galaxy S23/S24, ROG Phone)

Devices without DisplayPort Alt Mode (e.g., Nintendo Switch) require an external adapter.

Optional Accessories

  • Xreal Beam Pro: HDMI-to-USB-C video processor for connecting PS5, Switch, legacy PCs, and more
  • ROG Branded Carrying Case (included with launch edition)

From the demo videos, the ROG Xreal R1 clearly stands out—especially for gaming. It’s lightweight (just about 72 grams), compact, and compatible with most mainstream devices.

Compared to traditional VR headsets—which are often bulky and uncomfortable for extended use—the ROG Xreal R1, as a lightweight passthrough display, offers a significant improvement in wearability and comfort.
