This technical demo for The Witcher 4, powered by Unreal Engine 5, comes from the official The Witcher YouTube channel (@thewitcher).
The Witcher series has always been a favorite among countless players—including me. This video, released in June 2025, showcases a behind-the-scenes look at the new technology driving the game.

It opens with a classic Witcher moment: a griffin attacking a transport wagon. But this time, thanks to Unreal Engine 5, the visuals and details are noticeably more advanced than in previous entries—delivering greater realism, richer lighting, and a far more immersive atmosphere.

We then see Ciri investigating the scene. Judging by the narrative context, the story appears to follow up on the events of The Witcher 3, and Ciri seems to be the main protagonist in this demo—no other Witchers appear throughout the footage.

Developers go on to explain several new technical features, including realistic musculoskeletal simulation for horses and dynamic environmental systems that create smoother, more lifelike world interactions. These improvements are immediately visible, elevating the sense of realism to a level I previously only experienced in Toussaint from The Witcher 3. The scenery here is absolutely breathtaking.

Later, Ciri arrives at a village to continue her investigation. The demo highlights how NPCs interact with each other independently—different villagers carry out their own tasks, converse, or move about simultaneously, all without direct involvement from the player. These NPC-to-NPC interactions make the world feel alive and grounded in reality.

As one of my most anticipated game series, I’m genuinely excited about The Witcher 4. That said, this is still just a technical demonstration, and there’s no official word yet on development progress or release timing—I’ll be following updates closely. Still, 2026 is already looking like an incredible year for new releases, and I can’t help but feel thrilled about what’s ahead.
