Froggy Hates Snow: A Frog’s Snow Survival Journey

Froggy Hates Snow System Overview: Covering core gameplay, dual-path narrative, companion collaboration, and upgrade systems, alongside the experience of the enemy-free Casual Mode.
Published: May 5, 2026 | Updated: May 7, 2026

Developed by CRYING BRICK and published by Digital Bandidos, Froggy Hates Snow is set to officially launch on May 7, 2026.

In this game, players step into the tiny boots of a sweater-and-scarf-clad frog stranded in a forgotten, sub-zero wasteland. In this frozen expanse, warmth is nonexistent and body temperature is your literal lifeline. To survive, you must dig through deep snow, scavenge for supplies, and fend off hostile creatures while choosing between two distinct fates: will you find an exit to escape this icy prison, or venture deeper into the danger to confront the ultimate threat and uncover the secrets of the snow?

Character selection screen: Froggy is selected (level 3), with stats and skills shown on the right; 9 other characters are locked.

Core Gameplay Highlights

1. Interactive Snow System Snow is more than just an environmental obstacle; it is a tactical element that can be reshaped. From digging by hand to using shovels, flamethrowers, and even explosives, players can clear paths and trigger chain reactions to forge their own strategies.

2. Roguelite Exploration Loop Every adventure begins at a safe cabin before heading out into procedurally generated snowfields. Along the way, you collect resources, defeat enemies, and find special items to bring back to base for permanent character upgrades. As your power grows, you will unlock deeper and more hazardous zones.

The frog protagonist takes shelter in a transparent dome amid heavy snowfall, with an orange sofa and supply crate inside; main objectives and mini-map visible on screen edges.

3. Anomaly Zone Challenges The map is dotted with high-risk “Anomaly Zones.” While these areas feature tougher enemies and more complex mechanics, surviving them rewards you with rare equipment and key items that can significantly shift your tactical direction.

4. Animal Companion System You can recruit companions such as penguins, moles, and owls. Each ally possesses unique abilities that assist with combat support, resource transportation, or environmental interaction, greatly expanding the possibilities for tactical combinations.

Skill selection screen: Three options—Ski (faster movement, disabled in combat), Cart (increased resource carry capacity), and Shovel (faster digging + powerful strike); Shovel is currently selected.

5. Diverse Enemies and Boss Battles The game features a wide variety of enemies with distinct behavior patterns, requiring players to observe and adapt. Ultimately, you will face powerful bosses with multi-phase mechanics that test your mechanical skill, resource management, and adaptability.

Upgrade menu: Left panel shows Body Strength (Running, Digging, Gathering), Health (First Aid, Vitality), and Backpack; center includes Heating, Map, SOS; right panel details the “Digging” skill with upgrade cost (30 points).

Demo Experience

The current demo is packed with content and offers two distinct modes:

  • Exploration + Combat Mode: The full experience involving survival, combat, and strategy.
  • Pure Exploration (Casual) Mode: No enemy interference. This mode focuses on digging, collecting, and upgrading. If you just want to shovel snow and upgrade at a relaxed pace, this is the perfect choice.

The map design is highly diverse and supports “Relic-like” special items that boost movement speed, shoveling efficiency, backpack capacity, and vehicle load. These elements make the game rhythm smoother and your objectives clearer.

All ability upgrades require precious treasures brought back from the snowfields, which can be spent at the base shop. Whether you are increasing your speed, expanding your carry capacity, or strengthening your survival stats, your ultimate goal remains clear: gather resources, upgrade yourself, and explore deeper into the world.

Are you ready for a snowbound survival adventure that is both cozy and hardcore?
