Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising, developed by Small Mill, is currently in its DEMO phase. The official release year has been announced as 2026, though the exact launch date has not yet been specified.

Bottom-left buttons read 'Start Game' and 'Exit'; top-right options include 'Follow us' and 'Add to Wishlist'. The overall aesthetic is dark, mysterious, and fantasy-themed.

This is a dark-themed RPG that combines idle progression, auto-battling, and strategic layout. In the game, you play as a “Worshipper,” building structures, training heroes, and challenging dungeons to gradually awaken the slumbering Old Gods. The gameplay pace is relaxed, yet it offers considerable strategic depth perfect for players who enjoy long-term progression and team composition.

The game is supported by a robust data system. Hero classes are divided into three types: Warrior, Archer, and Mage. Each class has its own attributes, equipment, talents, combat traits, and distinct attack patterns.

The core gameplay revolves around a continuous cycle of fighting, growing stronger, and taking on tougher enemies.

Sounds repetitive? Don’t worry the game features an auto battle system. Once you’ve set your team, you can step away entirely; your heroes will keep challenging stages on their own.

If all heroes are defeated, you’ll lose some resources. Therefore, you can retreat at any time during battle the decision is yours.

Worshipper

The panel displays offline rewards (+4700 gold, +940 XP, +47 resources per hour), dominion bonuses, and an 'Infusion' feature. Three different infusion options appear at the bottom. The interface follows a consistent dark-themed UI design.

The “Worshipper” is not a combat ready hero, but rather the central hub of your account’s overall progression. Think of them as your behind-the-scenes commander though they never fight, their level and Infusion directly boost all heroes’ base stats and resource gain rates.

Tap the avatar in the top-right corner of the main screen to open the Worshipper Info panel, where you can see your current level, offline earning rate, and most importantly, the Infusion system. Each time you complete an Infusion, you permanently enhance stats for a specific hero class.

However, Infusion requires resources such as gold, blood, or bone and the exact materials needed vary depending on the class being infused.

The right panel displays chapter unlock conditions, such as 'Unlocked upon clearing Chapter 4' and 'Chapter 8'. Top bar shows player resources: gold, experience, and health.

In the Prison, you can spend gold to Charm defeated enemies and convert them into playable Godsworn heroes.

Each prisoner has a unique class and stats.

Spend gold to Refresh the available list.

Upgrading the Prison with materials permanently increases the starting stats of all newly recruited Godsworn.

Monument

The 'Monument' quest panel in the game, listing objectives such as 'Store 1 item in Storage' and 'Buy 1 Rare Item from Market', all currently marked as 'Not Completed'. The right side shows a combat preview with characters fighting enemies. The background depicts a burning forest under a crimson sky, creating a tense and ominous atmosphere.

This building cannot currently be upgraded through construction.

On the right, a pop-up window displays 'Kerylt's Shadow Ring', a set ring with stats like +10 Strength and +6 Attack, along with set bonus descriptions. The top-right shows character gear slots and portrait.

The Warehouse is where players store items, ideal for keeping rare equipment you don’t need right now.

This building can also be upgraded through renovation to increase its storage capacity.

You can sell unwanted gear for gold or purchase rare items using gold. Spend gold to refresh the available items list.

Upgrading the building through renovation improves buy/sell prices, making trades more profitable.

Temple

On the right, the blessing skill tree shows a tooltip indicating 'Baptism Blood Reduced — Blood cost for Godsworn Baptism reduced by 10%'. Bottom panel displays current resources and action buttons.

The Temple is a core building for enhancing your heroes.

Here, you can spend Ancient Blood to perform Baptisms, directly boosting your heroes’ levels and stats.

As your heroes grow stronger, you’ll eventually hit the level cap.

this is where upgrading the Temple (also known as “evolving” it) comes in.

Each time you upgrade the Temple, you’ll not only reduce the amount of Ancient Blood needed for Baptisms but also raise the maximum level your heroes can reach, allowing your team to keep growing stronger.

The Temple unlocks after completing Chapter 2.

Workshop

Workshop interface in Path of Idle, showing the 'Forging' feature on the left, which enhances core equipment stats. A Level 10 weapon is being upgraded, increasing Health from 229 to 244 and Mana from 153 to 131, costing 755 resources. On the right, a skill tree-style upgrade system displays the 'Unlock Sockets' option, allowing affixes to be added to gear, with a cost of 300 gold. The background features a dark red, hellish-themed environment.

The Workshop can be used to forge and upgrade weapons, gear, and accessories to enhance their stats.

By consuming Sacred Bones to upgrade the Workshop building, players can increase the maximum forgeable item level, the higher the building level.

the higher the equipment tier that can be forged and also unlock the ability to add new affixes (modifiers) to items.

About Equipment

Equipment stat panels in Path of Idle, showcasing four items of varying rarities: 'Dexterous Bow' (Gray), 'Arcane Robe' (Blue), 'Coral Necklace +5' (Yellow), and 'Bladetless +5' (Orange). From left to right, total scores and stat bonuses increase progressively, including Health, Attack, Crit, and more. The orange legendary weapon on the far right features special effects such as 'Bludgeon Damage bonuses affect all Physical Damage; Slash and Pierce bonuses have no effect'.

Equipment rarities are color-coded as gray, blue, yellow, and orange. Each rarity comes with different affixes, and orange items generally offer the best stats.

Four set equipment stat panels in Path of Idle: 'Kerylt’s Spectral Dagger +5', 'Kerylt’s Shadow Ring +5', 'Wulfgar’s Wolf-Hood +5', and 'Isar’s Ice Crystal Ring +5'. Each item displays its set name and unique affixes, with some showing set bonuses like '2 Set: Vanish into Shadow grants 30% Crit resistance' or '4 Set: Frost resistance is increased by 10%', highlighting the synergistic benefits of completing sets.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

There is also a special green-colored set gear: its full power is only unlocked when the entire set is equipped.

However, the base stats of individual green pieces are typically lower than those of orange items.

Four +5 weapon equipment stat panels in Path of Idle: 'Bladetless +5' (Legendary Sword), 'Silver Sting +5' (Legendary Hammer), 'Sword of Gaiem +5' (Legendary Sword), and 'High Acclaim +5' (Legendary Gloves). Each item has unique stat boosts such as Attack, Elemental Damage, Skill Speed, etc., along with special flavor text like 'That’s quite amusing.' or 'Praise your enemy, making it muddy fail in love with you.', reflecting the game's humorous tone.

Why are orange items considered better?

Based on the screenshot above, which shows the best I’ve found so far, it has a large number of affixes and provides substantial stat bonuses.

Moreover, its base stats can be further enhanced through forging at the Workshop.

Of course, getting better gear ultimately depends on luck and requires a lot of time grinding.

About the Inventory / Skill Bar / Equipment Slots

Talent tree interface in Path of Idle, showing a skill grid on the left with various upgradeable nodes, some activated and displaying stat boosts like '+4' or '+5'. On the right is the character info panel, displaying a Hunter at Level 22 with stats such as Health 2648, Mana 2545, Strength 125, and equipped gear. The background features a dark red, hellish map with structures like Temple, Workshop, and Prison.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

The game starts with three classes: Archer, Warrior, and Mage here we’ll use the Archer as an example.

Each class has unique skills, and main weapons can only be used by their respective class, while other gear is shared across all classes.

Each class also has different base stats.

Moreover, within the same class, variations in quality (such as Common or Fine) and differences in level all affect the character’s final attributes.

Skill detail pop-up in Path of Idle showing 'Archer Guard (4/10)', which requires a Bow weapon, costs 30 energy, has a 6-second cooldown, and lasts 12 seconds. The description reads: 'Summons a warrior with a shield to fight; the archer can use the Shot skill.' On the right is the talent tree with multiple activated nodes, featuring a Warrior at Level 22 with full gear. The background depicts a demonic castle under a crimson sky.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

The game currently only has two active combat slots, allowing you to deploy at most two heroes at a time, which can feel overwhelming when facing large groups of enemies.

Therefore, when charming prisoners in the prison, pay attention to their stats.

Combat scene in Path of Idle set in 'Blackcrow Ridge-10', featuring a graveyard under a blood-red sunset with crosses and ancient ruins. On the left are player units including a warrior, mage, and pet, along with a summoned warrior and a wolf aiding in the battle; on the right are enemy units such as green skeletons and mechanical monsters. Bottom health bars show team status, with 'Auto' and 'Retreat' buttons in the top-right corner.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

If you have enough gold, try to choose prisoners of Fine quality or higher, ideally those whose skills include summoning abilities, as they make combat significantly easier.

About Adventure and Map Exploration

Map interface in Path of Idle, showing the 'Journey' mode on the left with a route map for 'Blackcrow Ridge-10', consisting of interconnected nodes—some unlocked, with a red diamond marking the current objective. On the right is the 'Explore' mode, displaying resource-gathering areas such as Sacred Blood, gold, and Sacred Bones, each marked with icons; the top-right shows available resource counts.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

The current DEMO features two types of maps:

  1. Stage Progression: Advance by clearing stages, collecting chests from chest stages, and ultimately defeating the boss to unlock the next chapter.
  2. Exploration: Dedicated to resource gathering, such as Blood, gold, and Bones.

The game supports three battle lines simultaneously, with up to two heroes assigned to each line, meaning you need to develop at least six heroes in total.

Full-game interface of Path of Idle, showing the world map on the left with structures like Temple, Workshop, and Prison. A quest prompt at the bottom reads 'Bless 3 Godsworn at the Temple'. On the right is an active combat scene in 'Treasure Island - Road', featuring dual-line battles with player units fighting enemies and damage numbers appearing above. The top-right displays hero portraits and levels, while a message below indicates 'Unlocked upon clearing Chapter 8', highlighting the game’s multi-line gameplay system.
Screenshot from the demo version of Path of Idle: Old Gods Rising © 2026 Small Mill.

However, the DEMO currently only includes seven chapters, and the third battle line unlocks only after completing Chapter 8, so I can only show screenshots of two active lines for now.

Each battle line operates independently, allowing you to assign heroes based on your needs, either sending them to clear stages or out to gather resources.

Gameplay Tips

Well, there’s really not much advice to give.
In the early game, you might be unsure which class to pick, but don’t worry, just go with the one you like.

I started with the Archer, but later found that their health pool was relatively low and they couldn’t take much damage. So I switched to the Warrior and used my already-leveled Archer to help level up the new character.

Since the game supports auto-idle progression, even if you pick the “wrong” class at first, you can switch quickly without falling behind, so there’s no need to stress about it.

That said, I still recommend upgrading your Prison early on. This lets you charm higher-quality heroes (Fine or better), who generally have stronger skills. As I mentioned earlier, it’s especially helpful to look for heroes with summoning abilities, they make combat much easier.
